Founder of Hapkiyusul Global | International Teacher & Practitioner
Jarrod Taylor’s remarkable journey begins right here in the Northern Rivers region and spans continents—from Asia to Europe, Central and South America, all the way across the Drake Passage to Antarctica. But it was in the rural town of Geumsan, South Korea—known as “Silk Mountain”—where destiny truly took shape.
There, Jarrod met the late Kim Yun Sang, the last living custodian of Hapkiyusul—an ancient transformative practice known as “The Art of Flowing Freely with Focused Ki.” Tracing its roots from India through China, Korea, and Japan, Hapkiyusul returned to South Korea in 1946, where its lineage continued quietly until Jarrod’s arrival.
In order to be accepted as a student, Jarrod made a lifelong commitment: to practice daily without fail. Over time, he dedicated more than 17,000 hours to guided training. Following the passing of his teacher, Jarrod became the world’s most experienced practitioner of this rare and powerful art.
Returning to the Byron Bay region, Jarrod founded Hapkiyusul Global to share this profound system locally, nationally, and internationally. The practice transforms the body through strength, flexibility, and joint mobility; expands consciousness through mindful discipline; and opens the heart through a deep love of life.
Jarrod has led seminars across Australia, Europe, South Korea, and the United States. Now based back in Australia, he continues to be regularly invited to South Korea to share his insights and preserve the living lineage of Hapkiyusul.
